Our Story
Behind the Scenes
Work Mom Repeat was founded by Clayr Simnacher, here's her story:
Work Mom Repeat started in January of 2019 as a small intimate Facebook group called “High Heels and Spit up.” I had four weeks left on maternity leave, and I was struggling with returning to work. My heart wanted to stay home with my newborn. On top of that, I had anxiety surrounding daycare, scheduling, and juggling a new normal. There was an inner tug of war, so I took to Facebook to get support.
I found several mommy groups geared towards stay-at-home moms so I knew once I returned to work I would no longer be able to participate. This was how the group was born!
I started a private Facebook group for support and encouragement (and advice on how to juggle working and mommyhood). The response was incredible. It slowly began to grow throughout the year. By October, I realized this group was more than just a social platform. I met with two women (Leia Hardimon and Heather Hibbard) about turning this group into a non-profit community built towards educating, equipping, and encouraging working moms. By December, we created our non-profit, had our first board meeting, and launched our non profit. (Check out out Board of Directors on our "Meet the Board" tab)
We have had incredible response, and even in the midst of a pandemic, we have continued to grow. We provide monthly events (currently through our Facebook page Work Mom Repeat) with local experts, and we are launching a blog at the end of July. We are hopeful to return to in person events this fall and provide avenues for moms to create a lasting community. We have a lot of excited things planned for the upcoming year, and we are hopeful to start local chapters of Work Mom Repeat within communities as well as partnerships with local companies.
